Monitor calibrator

Hi Lads and Lasses,

I have finally put a good few frames through my 550D, and with or without PSE I have achieved some reasonable results (for me!). However before I think about making prints I would like to calibrate my monitor. Does anyone have any recommendations as to a good quality calibrator? I am considering the Spyder 3 Elite and would welcome any views or alternative suggestions.

I have the Spyder 3 Elite and it works very well I have calibrated both my own and my wifes laptop screens with it and it is consistent. Has no trouble on matte or reflective LCDs (mine is reflective, Dell Studio 1735). Takes in to account the ambient light of your working environment too for calibration.

I have spyder elite on my hackintosh. It made the screen look much better to me but the real benefit came out when I recently saw one of my photographs someone had got printed from photobox. Photo looked exactly like it did on the screen. They used to come out really dark. Very happy.

Thanks for the replies. It looks as though the wallet's going to be emptied yet again!

Even the Spyder 3 Express will do the job for screen calibration, plus it won't empty your wallet quite so much. Worked a treat on my machine, and the prints I get out of my printer are accurate
