Monitor Recomendation - £100 - £150 budget

I'm hoping to be in a position to get a new monitor this month to replace my 6 year old Dell 17" TFT screen and wondered if anyone could recommend a suitable replacement in the £100 - £150 price range if this is achievable?

Ideally it will be at least 20" but not sure if my budget willl stretch far enough.

My main justification is to help with post processing images. I'm struggling at the moment as they look great on screen but when printing they don't look as great - I guess it's a common issue that people post and will be down to callibration, but I'm sure my monitor isn't up to the job.

Thanks for any advice that you can offer.
 
I was in the same situation as you. I have just today bought my new monitor and I think about the best one to get at that price point is the Dell Ultrasharp 22". It uses the E-IPS panel which is amazing at this price point! It offers amazing colour reproduction and once calibrated will give very accurate colours.

Thanks for all of the posts. As they all seem to be out of my budget, am I expecting too much for up to £150?
 
I got a dell last year - within your budget and it's crap - the colour cvaries from top to bottom. A solid colour looked graded on it. I think you need to find more cash sadly! :(

Yes I agree they are excellent monitors, the supersharp range is a cut above.

I've got a 19" Samsung which is the dogs wotsits, which I think was about £130 from Amazon - not sure which model it is though
 
Tesco extra and Direct do a 22" lg with (4ms rate i think). I bought mine for £116 the other month while doing big shop.

Very clean colours and sharp its great.
 
I've got a couple of Samsung 2343BW 23" monitors. I think they're great for the price. They calibrate well and they run quite happily at 2048x1152. Currently £183 at Amazon, though I got mine for £185 at Dell.
 
I just got my Dell this morning. I knew it would be good. But I was shocked at how much better it was!!

Seriously suggest getting one!
 
Thanks for the posts - there are some good suggestions. I'll take a look through specs vs price and see if I can comprimise anywhere (or stretch my budget slightly!).

I've just had an email from ebuyer and spotted this Phillips 220SW9FB/05 22" http://www.ebuyer.com/product/174021 and wondered if it was any good, or just cheap and cheerful?

I've had a look at the specs, but to be honest it doesn't mean anything to me :eek:
 
Its the panel inside that makes all the difference. The Dell that I posted has the E-IPS panel which is one of the better panels you can get for colour reproduction. Seriously I am impressed by this monitor, the build quality is so much higher than any monitor I have had in the past or the 2 x 22" Samsungs that I use in work.

ebuyer ... after sales service is abysmal ... :thumbsdown:
 
Another :thumbs: for the Dell 2209WA, a great monitor for the money, the IPS panel really improves the colour reproduction and viewing angles compared to TN. Can't comment on Ebuyer for after sales service as not had to use it, but delivery from them was very quick.

If you haven't seen it, http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/ is a useful site explaining the different panel technologies and has some reviews too.

I have it stinks, they have no regard for the Sale Of Goods Act, contacting them is an absolute nightmare, I ended up having to go direct to the manufacturer to obtain a replacement for an item that was supplied faulty. :thumbsdown:
