Monitor setup - Acer

Hi,

I've not got any budget for toys or new monitors (due to impending wedding) - but would like to get my monitor set up for post-processing RAW images from the D40. It seems the current ones I do are ending up too saturated, or even too dark/light.

Is there a manual reference guide/setup image that I can use? My monitor is an Acer AL1914 - nice, fast bright and not too expensive. Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated...

Oh, and I'm a Linux user...

Thanks - just seems the white on the screen (not pictures) is a little 'off'. Maybe I'll leave it as it is for now and do some more post-process and see how it goes.
