Hey folks, I was wondering is anyone going to Mark Cleghorns Monkey Business 5 workshops?

If anyone is going to any of the workshops from the Shropshire / Shrewsbury area and have a spare seat available, could you email me ASAP please, petrol cost covered ;)

any links to the workshops? I live around the shrewsbury area and not heard anything about them

I went on last years Monkey Business - Weddings.

An eye opener, most of the stuff he talks about is common sense, but I must admit I'd not thought of a lot of the stuff Mark discussed.

This will be my 4th MB tour. That man has a lot to answer for!

I went on a studio day he did at Calumet 4 years ago and I was hooked. I'd never taken a "People pic" until then and now I'm a wedding tog and looking for my own studio.

I pull his leg about it too, he's cost me a fortune! :)

I have booked to go on the Stockport one......

Surprised not more uptake on this workshop?

Went to the Cardiff workshop yesterday, it was all about family portraits and how to sell to your clients also some Photoshop ideas..
Can't tell you more we have been sworn to secrecy.

I found out about the Cardiff day too late to book a day off work. Maybe next time? :)

Leave the camera at home.

The workshops are educational in that Mark will show you how he sets up and shoots specific shots (When he did boudoir he set up a hilite to replicate a window and took some shots) but the whole point is that the images are only a starting point. It what you DO with them and how you make money from them that it the whole point of the workshop.

Taking a few pics of somone elses setup is almost entirely worthless IMHO, you are much better off taking notes, going home and doing it yourself.

Mark: do you get to take shots yourself or is it more a lecture workshop?

At previous workshops we have been able to shoot, but as Alison has said it is more for recording ideas to try later...

This workshop there was not time to take photos, so mostly a lecture...
I would take pen and paper to make notes, also you receive a DVD about portraits...
After the tour has finished you can view all the notes on Mark`s website with a special code he will give you during the day...

Also time for you to network with other photographers in your area...

Cheers Mark,
The networking side is VERY useful of course. Sadly I am stuck using public transport currently and this is very limiting, but I am very keen to go.

If you can get to Stoke On Trent early enough I am going to the Pontefract one on the 14th. Not sure where in Shropshire you are.

Andy

EDIT: just noticed the public transport bit. May be a struggle.
