I've been trying to get back into the swing of things by taking the camera EVERYWHERE with me and a few weeks back we went out for a walk and stopped in a local park for the kids to burn some energy, I took a fair few shots but these two were the pick for me. It was late afternoon so the sun was low and the backlighting just worked for me. Both were taken with a NEX-6, 55-210mm Sony lens and were cropped slightly and straightened, but otherwise are pretty much straight out of the camera. They both look soft to me which is a real shame and I did try to sort that in PP too but without much luck, that may be down to my ability (i'm very out of practice) as much as anything else. Interested to know what y'all think though!

Two charming photos :)

Not sure if they are soft or you just missed focus a tiny bit. It may by irritating, but shouldn't detract too much, you have captured two lovely, happy moments in time and they should be treasured.

A tiny bit of fill flash would have helped I think, maybe something to bear in mind next time :)

Thanks both, looking again I suspect you're correct that it was the focus that was off, it seemed a perennial issue I was having with the NEX-6 (I have now upgraded to an a6300, which seems must faster and more accurate by comparison!)

I should have thought of fill flash, having not done very much with a camera in a few years now my thought processes are not really there yet. I was some distance away and using the zoom though so I wonder if the built in flash would have made that much impact? Something to try next time, perhaps!

Thanks again for having a look and taking the time to comment!
