Yes
i just got given a monopod but it has a 3/8 thread so it wont fit my camera, ive been having a look round and see there are adapters available but they all seem to be 1/4 to 3/8 rather than the other way round.

could some kind person point me in the right direction or is it a throw away job

thanks a lot

Can I ask if it is a Manfrotto?

no idea what make it is as it has no name on it,no its not the spring mounted type either just a 3/8 thread

This one?

from Manfrotto, probably around £7 in the UK

£4 from Jessops Linky

You'll need a head for it, such as this, which also has a quick-release plate.

7dayshop used to list a simple V-shaped plastic lens-rest, which would be the cheapest option.

they may not have it or know about it in store but have it on special order

i was in jessops shop yesterday asking if they had any thing like this & there reply was no sorry we dont stock any thing like that :cuckoo:

thanks for the link.

They don't carry it as regular stock, but shoulc be able to order it in for you if you give them the Jessops stock number

what i was going to say.. the outer thread of the manfrottos is spring mounted, push it downward to reveal the smaller thread :)

I now know this myself. Mind you, I only realised it after trying for 10 minutes to remove what I thought to be a stuck on 3/8 adaptor with a variety of tools (pliers, mole grips and a junior hacksaw).:bang: and :cuckoo:

Fortunately I didn't damage the 1/4 inch thread beneath and a 1/4 to 3/8 adaptor saved me buying another monopod.

...And yes I did feel like a complete fool when I realised what I'd done.

tbh i never thought about a head for it, i was just going to screw staight to the camera.

just noticed 7dayshop sell a monopod for £8.99 where its £8 for the adapter from jessops, not sure what to do now.

i like the idea of that v-mount bracket though.

thanks

thanks Graham i'll give them a ring & see if they can order me one.

thinking about it the monopod that i have is not to heavy & very sturdy, probably better than the cheap one from 7dayshop.
