Monopod for macro?

Never used one before, most of my pics are close up n macro etc would a monopod come in handy when out and about etc? And reasons why?

Sure it would help. Hand-holdable Shutter speeds tend to be a problem with macro, because of the high f/numbers and light loss at close distance.

Another way around it is ring-flash, which is the option most people prefer. Marumi make a good cheap one for about £100.

Funny you mention that! In just about to order it tonight lol along with my kenko tube for my canon 60mm macro...

..... Do you know how strong the light is? As I dint want to be that close and nt be able to adjust the light that I end up with over exposure, should this combo work?

Cool :) By all accounts it's a great little toy and works well, for a fraction of the cost of the Canon jobbie. It's basic, but does all the important stuff I think.

I wouldn't worry about too much light. Let the E-TTL take care of that. It's not very bright to start with. I would maybe worry about using a much bigger hot-shoe gun mounted right on the end of the lens, but actually that is exactly what a lot of people to with DIY brackets and diffusers and they seem to get some very good results :thumbs:
