Hi,

I was hoping to get some advice on monopod heads .

I just bought the manfrotto 685 neotec monopod and need to buy a head for it.

I've looked at a couple of ball heads mainly the 494rc2, but not sure if it can handle the weight of say my camera 60d with a canon 70-200 f4 L attached to it.

Can anyone recommend a suitable ball head ?

Also I was trying to decide between a ball head and a 3 way head, as in the long term, I'd like to use the head on a tripod too. Which would be the better option to go for ..

You thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

I can recommend the Slik Ball Head 800.

Really strong and sturdy, takes my 70-200 f4 L no problem.
 
Ball heads are really no good for a monopod unless you've got three hands. Get the Manfrotto 234RC2
 
I have no problem using mine and I can assure you I dont have three hands.
 
I have the Giottos MH 1302 with my 70-200 it works well I too don't have three hands
