the usual question, how much is your budget ?

I use a redsnapper monopod with my sigma 150-500

Do you prefer lever locks or twist locks. I prefer levers myself as I find them easier to operate one handed. Manfrotto make some sturdy monopods, which coupled with a suitable head with a QR plate makes life easy.

Manfrotto have a special on till the end of July.... BOGOF I know that a couple of advertisers on here are doing the "special offer" on these... May be worth a look at...

I've recently acquired a Manfrotto 685b Neotec monopod from this very forum, no levers or twist locks to mess with - you just pull it out and it locks automatically. Brilliant!

Are you using a ballhead?

hi steve,

could you please tell me which advertisers have this offer on at the moment.

thanks

Monopod choice is fairly easy. Head choice isn't.

I've tried using my 300 2.8 on my Gitzo 2541 with a ballhead (wobbly), gimbal (heavy) and no head at all (inflexible). I tried the Manfrotto 234RC tilt-head, but that couldn't take the weight.

In the end I bought a Really Right Stuff High-Capacity Monopod Head. Expensive and I had to buy from the US - but perfect for the job.

Paul,

I thought that you might ask - as I should've mentioned it :bang:....

I asked Stewart from Digital-Depot he said they do have some on order - when I asked ( about 2 weeks ago) so may be handy to give him a shout & see if they're in yet..

ok thanks

No worries....

I did ask Manfrotto themselves (bogenimaging.co.uk) but they replied with whats my postcode in order that they could give me my nearest stockist offering the deal... As I was after a list of stockist..

Not at the minute, just tried it with the 234RC tilt head that it came with. I am tempted to screw on the 322RC just to see what it's like, but I think it's a bit too big for a monopod.

Thanks Guys, been away working...

At present i have a small ball head taken from my benbo trekker mk1,

Its a bit light weight & have to do up to tight to get to hold...

Manfrotto 679 well worth the 40squids

I have a 681b which is great, the levers are easy to use one handed. I use it with the 120-300 2.8 or 50-500 sigmas, no head.
