Monopod recommendation? Tall person!

I'm pretty tall, 6'2 and find many monopods don't reach high enough, any recommendations for a good one that comes up a bit higher? Also, what's a good head to put on it? (Nikon D300/700 plus mid-range tele for weight).

Manfrotto 680. Stands 62ins to its baseplate, add 3ins or so for a ball head = about 65ins to camera mount. Say 4ins camera base to viewfinder = 69ins to eyeball. Which puts it way too high for my 5' 7" so it may be ok for you.

As for a ballhead - Manfrotto 486RC2 is good for my 5D and a 400mm lens.

Hi mate, im a shade under 6 foot and find the manfrotto 680B is good. Fully extended it reaches just below my chin. Redsnapper also do a quite good Carbon Fibre monopod for a ridiculously low price of around £50. If you seach for them on here you should find plenty of posts

Thanks

Andy

I'm 6ft 5 and use the Redsnapper. With ball head and camera fitted, it is high enough for me.

Many thanks for the recommendations guys...Ben, at 6' 5 that's almost aerial photography! :)

Giotto's MML3290B is 184 cm tall, plus add a small ball head - about 194 cm.
Monopod has 12kg weight capacity

I'm 6ft4 and have just bought the £10 one that 7dayshop sell. It extends up high enough for me to use comfirtably (not that I have used it yet though) and although it's not mega sturdy it is enough to take the weight off your arms and provide a bit more steadiness. There is no head on it as such, just a small circular rubber pad with the standard screw fixing on it so I guess you can fit your own head to it or attach direct to the camera/lens.

For £10 you can't really complain!!

i use a Gitzo GM5540 with a redsnapper small ballhead and this is fine, i am 6'6"

Another vote for the Redsnapper. Just got mine this morning. I am 6 2 and its perfect with the ball head.. Impressed with the quality and ease of use.

Just as a matter of interest, this was the combination I ended up with.

Thanks for all the recommendations.
