Monopod recommendation

I'm after a good Monopod. I've tried looking around, but for some reason I'm not getting far.

It'll be used a lot for Football on a weekly basis.
 
I'd have a look at the Gitzo GM2541, it's hard to find fault with it.

I like the manfrotto 681B monopod, very solid. Also, I prefer the lever type leg locks that manfrotto monpods and tripods have; much easier to use when you're wearing gloves

I have a Manfrotto 679B personally and its great :). Very solid and strong and not massively heavy.

I don't have a head for mine but the lenses I use on it all have a tripod collar :p
 
I've got a manfrotto as above. I tried without a head but the qr mentioned above just gives you extra flexibility and is well worth it.
 
As above posts, I've a Manfrotto Monopod and use a head with it - gives you a little extra flexibility
 
I find I needed a combination of ease of use, reliability and strength because some of my kit is very heavy.
I now use the Monfrotto Neotec

Even with a lighter body/lens combo I find this system the easiest for moving around quickly sometimes on rough ground when collapsing the monopod is vital to avoid falling over!

If your kit is much lighter then the Quick release head that Dave in Wales suggested is ample.
