Monopod - what's difference between these two?

Unless the fluid head is the deal breaker I would look at the sirui range of monopods love mine total quality gear . You can always buy a fluid head later if needed

The main reason I use a big strong monopod has nothing to do with the size of the camera. It's because I like to use it also as a two-handed hiking and scrambling staff.

I use a walking pole as a monopod.
You hardly need a big fluid head unless you are doing cine/video work.

What sort of shooting are you doing?

Personally I hate the 3 little legs that adorn many mono pods these days - just an accident waiting to happen! They also restrict mobility, slow down setup, increase weight etc etc. I am told that some video shooters like them but I have no idea on video.

You don't list anything heavy in your gear list so a fairly light (good quality) mono pod will be fine and you can benefit from the reduced weight. Also do you need a head on the mono pod? Most of the time I do not use any head on my mono pods and when I do I use the Sirui L10 which is small/light and is fine for anything up to a 300 F2.8 + Pro body.

I like the original Px24 Sirui mono pods but they are getting very hard to find. This one is somewhat more than you need but nice and sturdy (for clambering over rocks etc) and light too:

They also have it's bigger brother - the P424 (I have had mine for quite a while) and it is a superb piece of kit, almost as good as my Gitzo stuff. Strangely it is cheaper (?) great piece of kit but a bit of a monster for your gear - still a LOT lighter than the ones you linked though.

We're wedding photographers that are also looking to start doing video - the biggest kit that would go on it would be a Sony a7iii and a 70-200 2.8 GM. I've heard that it's pointless having a head on a monopod. We currently have one tripod with a 3 way head, looking to end up with 2 tripods with ball heads and 2 monopod without so thinking about buying these and using the heads on the tripods to save money:

As I said I have no idea on video - I don't even know how to turn it on on my main camera!

Naturally the requirements for video shooting are different so bear that in mid as my comments are related to stills.

Hope you find what you need.
