Does anyone use a Ballhead ect on there's? im considering getting one for My Fiances dad as he walks alot and i think having a decent monopod would be more useful then a Hefty Tripod he's started to leave in the car.
 
I tried using a ball head on mine but didn't see any real benefit. If the lens is big enough to require a monopod it normally has a collar to allow you to turn the camera for portrait style shots. If you want the camera angled up or down you can just lean the monopod forward or backwards.
 
I use my monopod with the 234RC tilt head now, when I first bought the monopod I rarely used it as I found it too cumbersome to compose shots, the head makes all the difference for me

I've a Manfrotto 486rc2 on my Manfrotto 680B - also have the Manfrotto 678 (3 legged tripod feet stand thingy) that hides up in the monopod when not in use....

Dont have any prob when I use it - althou I haven't used it for quite a while :bang: :$

I swap my Giottos 1302-652 ballhead between my Manfrotto and Giottos monopods and wouldn't be without a ballhead on whichever stick I was using. It just gives you that much more usability. I actually mount a Custom Bracket onto the ballhead which makes the whole unit a little heavier but it seems useful to me. At any rate my 2c is that a ballhead helps.

Yes, I use a ballhead on my Manfrotto monopod.

It's the only way I can do decent pans with a long lens.
 
Manfrotto do a couple of heads specifically for monopods, the 234 and the 234 RC. I'm sure I've got a 234RC kicking about somewhere if you want to try it, but like the other posters I didn't find any great benefit in it, hence why it's not being used (that and I've lost my monopod :lol:)

I just bought a 234RC (on here) but the moment it arrived I realised that I've lost my monopod so can't test it.

Typical. :bang:
 
I had a monopod which I didn't use much until I got a cheap ballhead for it, I have set for slight resistance so still have some flexibity to chase things around, but adds that little bit extra steadiness for the shot, and saves my arms from a heavy lens :)
