Moon image world record

[jgs001]

For those of you who have taken attempts to image the moon, this is unreal...

The team who put this together shot over a million frames of AVI and processed them into nearly 1000 image frames before merging them into a mosaic (panoramic on a grandiose scale).

The detail and image resolution is simply stunning...

It's still on the set in the film studio isn't it?

Even at this resolution, you're only looking at something like 500mm across. Apollo 11 landed in the darker sea at about the 2 o'clock position. Zoom in on the lower edge, There is a bright crater (moltke 6km across), just to the left of where this sea joins to the one below it, to the right and a pair to the left. The landing point was about midway between them.

if you keep zoomin in, just left of 3 o clock... I swear you can see a sattelite
Awesome find . Nice work.

[Byker28i]

it's not that good res though is it? I'm sure I've seen more detailed shots on here.

[andyred]

Wow, what detail, very nice

[whiteflyer]

Great detail, and I'm sure there is a running man on the moon.
