More a close up than a macro

On the dog walk this morning took this with my 70-300mm, must go up again tomorrow with the 105mm, but i liked the look of this


 
Yeah i like it. Though i don't get why the frost forms like that! Love the shapes of them though. Gives the plant an aggressive feel, while the sun shining on them softens it. Good job.
 
Awesome subject, and nice composition. But there's a LOT of noise present in the out-of-focus areas. ISO 400 on a D300 should have nowhere near that much noise, was it introduced through the processing?

The answer is i dont know to be honest, i am very much a beginner and only just finding my way round PSE 7. In fact i just used the auto option on this shot. Plus i have 69 year old eyes so i didnt even notice the noise:D
