I took these a while back when the first minister Jack McConnell visited the school. I've cropped and edited these to see what would happen. C&C very welcome. Ally
Its amazing what can be done with a photograph that looks no use!
Hey Ally
Like them all especially #3
1 and 2 could have had more depth of field and 1 has foreground a bit blown out.have you tried dodge and burn in f/ground #1?
Effective focus on the faces(#2) but would have liked to know what they are looking at.
Number 3 for me too.
They all have a good contrast range which is key to a succesful monochrome conversion although the highlights are blown on #1.
Noise is not such a bad thing on monochrome shots and many of my monochrome gurus often add noise.
Try making monochrome your first option on selected shoots instead of the last option before you bin them and you will be amazed at the results!
You have to put a different head on at time of shooting and look out for interesting light and texture...more applicable to landscape work than candid stuff.
