Yes
My preferred film and chemistry supplier Speedgraphic is closing this September.
By all accounts it is not down to low demand but the owner is retiring.

I'm a bit surprised the people that work there have not tried to buy the business.

That's a shame. I didn't use them often but found it a useful resource.

Oh my Gosh.

Is this Speed Graphic or a different outfit?
I guess.
They are based in Bordon.
I bought as much film and chemistry as I could afford when I was there last Friday.

Crap, I have used them a fair bit over the years, always had a great selection of bags and tripods. Still missing Dale Photographic in Leeds, I really miss have a good local store...
That's two local stores for me in the last year.
Silver Print and Speed Graphic.

I've used Speed Graphic for bits and pieces over the years. I used to love to receive their catalogues. They were works of art.

They often have good deals on too.
I got a Think Tank 13 at 60% off (that deal is still on.
And I got a Benro Tortoise Tripod £90 off.

I used to visit Dale when I lived up in North Yorkshire....at that time there was also Jacobs as well as them other lot....

Hopefully someone will come out of the woodwork and buy the company and keep it going.

Oh no! I've started using them recently and found them excellent. Very sad to hear this.

That's a shame. I've had various film and a box of ID-11 delivered from them this morning.

Edit: I've had a quick look but can't see any announcements on their website about it.

What was that place in Leeds which was a Contax/Yashica specialist? Owned by a very knowledgable and helpful lady.

Roll on payday.
I'll be stock piling film and chemistry while they are still selling it at the old price.
Heads up for 120 colour film users. They have reduced the price of Kodak gold in 5 packs to £56.95

There was a dealer about on the corner of Commercial St and Albion St back in the 60s/70s. I think it might have been called Diana Wiley, but I could be confused as I bought inter alia DW Viewpacks there.

Thats a real shame, I didn’t use them for everything but they got a good few orders a year from me.

Bentley's ? A friend at the time spoke very highly of them and often mentioned her by name but I can't remember what it was.
Could well be. I think it closed when Jessops opened 4 stores in Leeds, including taking over the Co-Op camera shop.

Before Jacobs opened in Newcastle I used to schlep down to Leeds from enemy photo gear simply because particularly when you were buying s/h gear having Jacobs & Jessops on each others doorstep seemed to have a positive effect on both.

Bentleyfilms! That was the name. Just round the corner from Dollands and near the museum (before it became Trinity shopping).
