Morocco and Marrakech

Has anyone been? I've unexpectedly got the opportunity of spending a few nights there (20 odd mins outside of Marrakech to the South West) coming up... I'm very VERY keen to get some Sand dune pictures. I know nothing about the place so apologies for just posting a "Can you tell me about stuff without me bothering to google it" type post..

Any tips would be greatfully recieved!

Merzouga is your best bet. I've done a trip to there, and also one to M'Hamid, both are awesome, but there is slightly more infrastructure at Merzouga, so this would be easier to organise.
Ouarzazate is a good jumping off point which is a shortish trip from Marrakech. You'll need to travel pretty far east to get some proper dunes though!

Have a google of Marrakech Sahara tours. Loads of companies going out that way every day to take people to the dunes.

You can camp in berber tents and things. Looks cool. I'm hopefully going in 2018.

I've been to Marrakech and loved it, great city for photography. I didn't go to the desert though so can't really be of much help.

Thanks for the info, I've found a 3 day trek that looks amazing with a night in the berber tents in the Merzouga dunes!
