I've just been messing with the D700 and going through the settings menu to set it up as I want. I started thinking "what are the must have settings that people always set and why". Which settings do people use for AE-L, AF-L, auto ISO etc etc and why.
So you borrow a camera off someone for the day what are YOUR top five settings that you must change
There are loads that I change but...
So my top 5
AE-L button - Set to auto exposure lock only
Auto ISO - Turned on and set to start at 200 go upto 1600 and keep the speed faster than 1/80
Colour space - Set to Adobe
Customize command dials / Menus and playback - ON
Viewfinder grid display - ON
ALSO - top tip
Do you have any tiny memory cards lying about? I had a 32Mb one that came free with my IXUS. It holds ONE picture
but it is plenty big enough to save my settings on. So go into the settings menu and save your settings then keep the card in your bag. If the camera goes wonky reset it and you can restore your settings.
