Anyone here with experience of a motorised gimbal for videoing with their Canon Eos M or similar sized camera? I've seen some posts recommending the Zhiyun Crane 2.

I have an M50 and looking to film a tour of our Coffee shop having had a visit from a Google Streetview rep. They want £200 for a one-off shoot. I'd rather spend the money on hardware and do it myself.

Zhiyun Crane 2 is the one I have. It is probably overkill for the M50 as it can carry quite a payload, also it's a few years' old now. I would go for something a bit smaller and up to date. Like most things, it takes some practice to get good results.

Like the look of the Crane M3, might go for one of those and appreciate your point about practice - sure it's not as simple and easy as they make out on the promotional videos...

Spend a spare hour or 2 watching Steve Wright https://www.youtube.com/c/LearnOnlineVideo/videos follow his techniques and you could create a better video hand holding your phone than you'll do after a lot of practise with a Zhiyun. Start with this video its more along the lines of what you might be doing

Or spend £60-80 on a phone gimbal, a bit of practise and you'll create something good for your coffee shop then you can sell it on for £40.

I have a Zhiyun Crane 3 LAB, its very good, it does take a lot of practise, the main difficulty i'm having is being able to see the screen and what im shooting as i move the gimbal around, and its fairly heavy, i tend to use a Moza Mini Mi with my phone a lot more than i use the Zhiyun.

Thanks for that, will take a look. I do have a phone gimbal, the Zhiyun Smooth Q bought on a whim some years ago. I didn't get on with it, phone too big I think, but will dig it out and give it a go with an LGV30 I now have. If that does the job, then happy days and money saved (y)

While obviously they help a lot ad are kind of fun it's a cumbersome thing to take anywhere and set up/balance.
So much so that after initial enthusiasm you will probably hardly use it.
Better to concentrate on technique and keeping camera still by other means if not a tripod.
