At Castle Combe, I'd recommend something shorter as well. Settings depend on what you want to achieve - panning needs relatively slow shutter speeds and head ons usually benefit from a wider aperture. Plenty of places for unimpeded-by-fencing shots there and you can walk all the way round the track. I have a feeling that the infield is now a solar farm so you might want to keep the panels out of shot if possible.
