mounted flash but to side of camera

hello,

just got back from a holiday where there was a camera company walking around taking photos for purchase, one of them had the flash mounted on the camera but too its side.

what i was wondering is what is the mount called and whats the benefit of having it to the side?

flash bracket / not so much red eye .

Probably takes a lot of pics in portrait mode which will put the flash above the lens and avoid strange sideways shadows.

You can get extension brackets from Jessops for a few quid.

Its also a much more balanced way of mounting a flash, you would need the bracket and an off shoe camera cord/adaptor.

Are these available for sony cameras do you know?

Yep - just screws into the tripod hole. You'll also need an off-camera flash cable.
