Hi All,

I havce recently purchased an imac 27 inch and am in the process of setting it up how i want it.

I have installed lightroom and copied across my photos to the hard drive (photos are backed up to two external drives also)

With regards to my lightroom catalogue files is it just a case of copying these over onto the mac and replacing the lightroom catalogue file its created?

So that when I open lightroom it sees all the adjustments and edits I made to my photos on the pc?

Sorry for the noob questions...........still learning my way round the Mac :)

it should work like that i guess, not sure if the catalogue files are different cross platforms but try opening the database.

you may have to right click on each collection and locate the new path though.

Going to give it a whirl now, thanks Neil, good point you make about locating the files! :)

sorry I didn't see this earlier. Just move the files over and all will be well. I did the same thing about a month ago!

No problem! Thankyou!

Just wanted to make sure it was going to work before i copied the rather large lightroom folder across (10 gig)

Will update once its copied across!

Is there a way of quickly pointing all LR to all the folders of photos at once to update location or is it a case of going one folder at a time?

Unfortunately it's one at a time. I hope your file structure was better than mine!

Cool thanks Neil and Jim. I guess it might be a good time to put all the years photos into folders such as 2009, 2010 and so on.

Current naming scheme is 2011_06_27 title of photoshoot

Have been thinking of doing this for a while just not got round to it. Have all shoots in one long list down the left side of LR

On a side note, if you have one top level folder called "Pictures", for example, then you only have to locate that one folder.

Hi Stuart.

I hadnt read this till now but thats exactly what I have done. Created a folder called "photos" then in there have year folders and in that have each session as named further up the thread!

Great advice though thanks!!
