Im now a nikon user and have always had my eye on this lens! My question is could i use a canon to nikon converter thingy ma bobby and use this lens on my D300s?
 
No, I'm afraid nothing like that exists.

You could always get a cheap body like a 350 or 400D to use one on though. Older lower spec bodies wouldn't limit much since ISO performance shouldn't be a problem as it's pretty much a flash only lens and megapixels matter not since diffraction would be a main limit on resolution anyway. Just a thought, if that's not viable option for you, you could just explore the world of extension tubes, reversing rings and bellows to get high mag on your nikon kit :).

As Adam suggested, a cheap canon body would be the way to go. As he rightly said, it wouldn't affect the images you take.

One word of advice though, choose one with liveview. It helps a lot for macro.

So 450D onwards, or 40D onwards. My personal recommendation would be a 500D with it's bigger and higher resolution screen and video recording. Picked up on eBay for around £230. Great value.

dutty - I have the 105mm and extensions --- if you'd like to meet up at some point n play for an hour or so to see what you think?

Possibly there is an adapter to allow the canon lens on the nikon - no idea which nor how good it would be...

Only other thing would be whether the mp65e has a manual control for aperture (I think it definitely has one for focus).

No, no EF lenses have aperture rings, it's all electronically controlled. The Mpe doesn't actually have a focus ring either, The only control on the lens is the ring that selects magnification, focussing is fixed at any given mag and you focus by moving the whole lens and camera setup back and forward.

tommorrow? (sunday) in brum somewhere - unless all the celebrations mess it up...probably want somewhere with small things like the botanical gardens...??otherwise - some point on monday? - after that I'd need some notice, like on sat got an mot to do, and the wife is back so would need to balance the time.
