For the last couple of years I've always stopped by the MPA stand at Focus and looked at the merits of their organisation especially as I was never connected to one and always wondered if I should. I know the whole "do they/don't they enhance your business" arguement but I finally decided this year that I would join one and selected it to be them.
Being a bit old school I thought I'd wait until Focus, visit their stand, chat with someone within the MPA just to make sure nothing has changed, however, I've found out that they are not attending this year.
I know I can ring them/go online or see them at other shows (Photovision comes to mind) but my concern is that as one of the bigger more prominant organisations (again just judging by the levels they've shown on their previous stands at Focus compared to other societies/organisations), is there a reason to be cautious here? Why are they not attending? They've had a big stand in the corner near the bar for the last 3 years if I remember, so to suddenly decide not to show makes me wonder if there is a just a simple reason (costs) or if they are declining slightly and may go by the wayside in years to come? I intended to join and give it a 3 year window to justify itself to me so they had a fair crack, but if there's a small chance they may not be around in 3 years, I'll go back to the drawing board!
