Good evening all
I have an MPE-65 with the MT24-ex twin flash unit. A couple of diffusers to give a nice soft light and it's pretty much your Rolls Royce macro setup.
But...
What I'm finding is that at higher magnifications (ie 2x or higher) the flash sticks out further forward from the lens then the required focussing distance! The flash (with diffusers) sticks out about 3 inches, so if I'm shooting a bug on a wall for instance I can't get close enough to get beyond around 2x even with the flash heads resting against the wall either side of the bug.
I'm beginning to wonder if the MT24-ex is really the best solution - any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. What are the rest of you doing?
