I know with my MPE65 when i am at 2x , the distance to subject is very small (sometimes nearly touching the lens). I would imagine you wont be able to get close to the subject with the Diffuser "poking" out from the front.
I bought the Popeshield and am looking forward to trying it out on the MPE65 and Canon 100mm
