Lovely weather today and I came across this little pair of smew - a bird I have never before photographed. They are quite a challenge - how do you expose correctly for a black and white bird in bright sunlight?

Lovely set Ken, I love the first three (y) A tad more room on the left of 2 and 4 would be nice.

You can't be looking in the right places, they're common as muck around here, I saw 3 males and 5 females last time I went out looking
 
A great set of shots Ken, I like them all but love the pose in #3,
you seem to have coped with the difficult exposure very well!
 
Lovely, I thought these would have all migrated North by now. Exposure is spot on but I would have liked a tighter crop on the pair.
