Yes
In the longer term I'm looking to get the mp-e 65, however I know I would need one of these too and there's no way the wife will let me drop another grand on a lens so I'm considering this flash to use with the 100mm L to get me dome practice and to lessen the blow later.

Good idea or should I hold off?

I frequently use the MT-24 with the 100L....either for a little fill or shooting at dusk when the bugs have calmed down.....works well. Just remember to get a Macrolite adapter 67 if and when you get the flash.

Cheers Bob, I hadn't considered an adapter - that size would be for the 100mm, but when I eventually spring for the MP-E would I need another adapter or would the flash work without for that lens?

The MP-E is a straight fit (no adapter required). Adapters are available for 67 and 72mm threads (72mm for the 180/3.5L)

It's also worth grabbing a 58mm lens cap so that you can cover the lens without removing the adapter each time.

lol, I just spotted that - I was looking to see where Ajophotog got his from as he's offering to sell - I just wish I had the money to hand...

Well - I'm taking the plunge on the MP-E & MT-24!

Bob, you mentioned a Macrolite adapter 67, can you point me toward a good one - there are a few on eBay - from HK, look to be genuine ones, but often there are cheaper alternatives that are just as good.

Any suggestions?

Excellent, thanks guys, ordered along with a 58mm lens cap.
