I'm going to replace my old multifunction printer (HP PSC 950) which has ceased to multifunction :annoyed: (errr. no dead parrot jokes please )

so i'm looking at alternatives, i would like fairly decent photo print quality, good scanning/copying, and also want it to have network connectivity, wired or wifi, but don't want to spend a fortune on one, budget of around a £100

the obvious contenders are:
Lexmark
Brother
HP
Epson

any suggestions/recommendations please

well i use the epson rx560 i know its getting on a bit but it does me proud i have ink tanks so its very cheap too i cant see a drop in print quality so i am happy

I have a Canon MP600 which quite frankly I think is awesome, great print quality and ink life, dual paper trays, duplex printing and I think they did an R version which was networkable. They may well do a newer version now but I can highly recommend it

My advice, for what it is worth, is as much as the quality look at the price of the consumables. It is not uncommon of to be able to buy a new printer for the price of a couple of ink cartridges. I know that there are a number of internet suppliers for cheap branded ink - I use 999inks - but if you need a new cartridge in a hurry you may end up paying more than the outlay for the printer .

the MP600R looks interesting, can it be fitted with an ink system or is it fixed in that you have to use cartridges ?

My office workhorse is the Canon MP610, which might be an upgrade to the MP600. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I don't know whether it (or a smilar model) can be networked, but I'm sure you could find that out very easily on Google.

Iv got the Canon MP780, it was a good printer but one of the black tanks has died!

Iv been looking at the new MP980 its got the lot on it! even a film scanner and WiFi.. its a little expensive though...

maybe the market has changed since I sold these sort of things but
lexmark...urgh
epson...shoot me instead
brother...joking?

HP pretty good and good quality
Canon, for costs, refills and general photo quality everytime.
just get one with the photoblack as well as the normal text black cartridge too and with Canon paper the results are normally very good
