Depending what or where i'm shooting it will be either the lighthouse family, bread or the beach boys.....for action though its ac/dc and highway to hell
Mainly heavy/extreme metal or hard rock! But occasionally, a little motown
EDIT: Ah just reread the original post, I don't work as a photographer, but when I go out taking photos I have my headphones on, or when I'm at home editing I have music playing.
Motorsports then, AC/DC, guns'n'roses, motorhead, jimi hendrix etc.
People/candid then would be beatles, acoustic music.
Wildlife then I would have again most likely one earphone in my ear with some acoustic stuff... maybe Jimi hendrix!
Anyother photography i'd just shove the iPod on shuffle!
I normally have my walkman/phone playing music when I'm out and about shooting and I also have music on when doing PP.
What type? Everything really, I normally have my players on random so end up with a little bit of pop, trance, dance, rock and metal...
Sometimes it creates memorable moments, like listening to "Mambo No.5" as I'm walking up a large hill in Cornwall, sea on one side and moorland on the other side, with a little bit of Monica and a little bit of Rita by my side...
Again depends on the shoot. If its a portrait sessions sometimes I will let the sitter decide but I usually go for stuff like The Knife, Sigur Ros, Belle and Sebastian, etc. If its a fashion shoot in the studio then its more chart music. For walkabout shooting its just random shuffle.
