I left an Olympus Pen in a charity shop last week. Kicking myself now!

That's worth it just for the price of the film - £3.29 for a roll of Kodak APS 200 new from 7-day shop.
 
yep charity shops are great I found a mint minolta xd7 for £30 :)
 
I have one of those Ixus things - APS film. Awful pictures from it (more the film I think). No better than a disc or 110 camera. I only put a couple of films through it before abandoning it to a cupboard.

More to do with printing I'd have thought. I've seen some great shots taken with an Ixus when they first came out printed in a good lab - that can make all the difference

Did see in the A P Mag this week a sigma 300-800 apo lens for sale at £100 .................................ONO :eek:

Near me in Blackpool to....................................rung up and got an irate women who said ITS GONE!!!! I took it the phone was red hot...........:eek:

Well treked back on Monday , picked up the following..

Halina 35X Super £2.50
Halina 35X £2.50
Ilford Sportsman £2.50

The Super has a slightly sticky shutter but a bit of operation will no doubt see it working correctly.

The lens was very stiff on the normal 35X - found a Japanese website with a step by step stripdown of the lens

An hour yesterday stripping, degreasing and regreasing/rebuilding has it operating as it was 50 years ago :D

The Sportsman seems to be perfect (famous last words !!)

All have their original cases, all of which are the worse for wear , but at least they have protected the contents pretty well !


So off to burn a few rolls of cheap film - not expecting any miracles, but just nice to use something different for a change ;)
 
I had a Nikon APS SLR Twin lens kit once... what a load of crap that was!

Good finds anyway.
 
Halina 35X My first 35mm camera. Wasn't to bad a camera all things considered. Had a friend who ran a camera repair operation and had the shutter speed checked out. Tended to be a bit optamistic if memory serves me right. And the sticky shutter was a trait of the camera. Also the film rewind knob took forever to rewind the film and being a knurled knob tended to cause your fingures to hurt a bit. Despite that really enjoyed it.

Well first roll of film is complete and developed on a 1 hour process in Tesco (bad quailty but told me whather it worked or not !)...

useda roll of 400 asa Kodak print film - perhaps not the best choice for the camera but all i had at the time..

first 9 frames taken without a lightmemter so i thought i'd take the same shot with varying aperture and shutter speeds (and a pretty grim day too !). Some vignetting on some shots, some very shakey suggesting 1/50th isn't 1/50th , but no half shots so at least the shutter is fully operational.

Probably the best shot in 24 was on a very bright subject on Saturday in brigt sunlight, where with the high asa of film the lightmeter suggested the camera couldn't cope (1/200th max shutter) - this shot truned out fine. Think i'll have to review the frames and the settings and adjust accordingly. Got some C41 B&W on the way, so hopefully that will be a bit more tolerant.

Overall its by no means anything fantastic image wise - i have a feeling it can take some decent shots in the right conditions but its no Leica for sure :lol:

Nice t take out for a change though :cuckoo:
 
Came home this weekend from charity shop with a bakalite kodak 127 Brownie, looks as if it's never been out of the box. 50P.
BUT WHY DO I WANT IT????
 
Well went out today with the dogs, armed with the Canon EOS 30 and grip that i got offf ebay for under £50 last year. Its such a lovely piece of kit to use that i'm really wondering why i bother with these older charity shop cameras. Yes they have a certain charm and nostalgia about them, but without metering they are a bit of a pain to use for what i actually get out of them (i have MF when i want to phaff !).

I suppose there will always be that thought that i'd missed a gem for 50p, but i'm really starting to think i'm wasting my time (i now have enough for ornamental display and dinner conversation purposes !!), and perhaps my efforts would be better placed buying and enjoying something that bit better like a Nikon F4 :thinking::thinking: even if it is a completely different set of lenses again from my Canon AF series and Bronica MF series :(
 
The charity shops in your areas have cameras?! You're all very lucky. I visited over a dozen in my area over the last week looking for old cameras but didn't find a single one. Plenty of incomplete Ludo sets (:cuckoo:) but no old photography equipment at all.

hey! I was walking down Tottenham Court Rd yesterday, and decided to window browse in the one real photographic shop left, and they had 2 of these for sale. gues how much?

£40 and £60 quid! good find!

Mine too. With the split image rangefinder mounted on top and a weston lightmeter.

They got one in the pile. Amongst other things.... Not sure if any of them are worth anything. TBH I don't even know why the Trip 35 looks wierd around the lens, is it a range finder or something?

PS. I might put a bid in for these. Could be quite funny having a mass of cameras turn up on the doorstep. OR could buy them as a forum donation (ie Anyone want camera X? Cover postage and its yours)
 
Just looking on exchange and mart to see if any bargains to be had, but not all have pictures and the descriptions seem vague:

Pentax 35mm SLR camera, with case and film. Vgc. £4.
