Yes
I had my 1st shoot with a non model yesterday and learnt a few things along the way.

1. Re check location a day before you go ( couldn't find the spot yesterday)
2. I need to learn how to pose a model
3. I need to give directions more as she was asking me what pose/position should I be in
4. Take some drinks for the model it was a hot day and she was gasping
5. Don't take as much gear I think I took everything I had lol
6. Make sure I check the weather next time as it rained later on the second location

Apart from that we had fun and she's happy with the photos I've shown her so far.
Hope this helps someone not to make the mistakes I made.

Just on the location side you can log most via phones, tablets and car sat navs now so you always find the spot again.

Poses and looks IMO come with experience :)

Indeed more prep needed its just things I overlooked I'm just glad she was a friend and not a paid model practise makes perfect right?

As for the location it was a spot inside a wood so car sat nav wouldn't have helped maybe leave myself some breadcrumbs next time lol

Got an iPhone or Android phone? You can easily add a location based on current GPS position. I have used this trick in unfamiliar large carparks at festivals etc.

great stuff, as long as you both had fun and got something out of it, that's a win.
there is a lot of planning, I've only done a couple of outdoor shoots TFP and thankfully the weather was always good.
congrats, are you posting up some output? presume that you'll get the photos to the model asap too.
congrats again :)

app wise, there is a PARKING APP, allows you to mark a GPS location, take a picture even and navigate your way back

I will post a few when I get in from work I think my wife has that app still. Oh on another note I had my wife with me as assist and it helped so much.

Yep - and you often don't know what you don't know til you try - if that makes sense! So practicing with friends is a good way to find out what you need to learn. Then go away and look at how other people pose, think of poses you'd like to try, then off with a friend and try again.
