I dont really 'do' portrait shots. I don't mix with people! Though.. i would like to have a go... not that i have people to photograph!
 
It looks to me like you have a willing candidate right there.. A touch of fill flash would of added to this shot as his face is a little dark.. Also remember to watch the background, its a bit cluttered, as it can quite often make or break an image.. try to keep it as simple as possible and in general try to focus on the eyes..

Thanks for the advice :) He would be a fab candidate... if he wasnt stroppy and tempermental! :wacky:

That was all he would let me take, i wanted him to sit on the grass... but he wasnt haveing any of it!
