uhmm.. so yea...

it was fine 2 days ago when I was messing around at home.

Decided to use the flash today again, no luck. It does not pop up, and when I try to go to the flash settings I get a message saying there is an external flash attached...

I wiped the contacts on the camera and they look clean but still no luck... :bang:

any ideas? it's a 450D btw...

I recall having a similar problem with my EOS-5 - there are a couple of microswitches in the flash shoe...

There's something about it on this site... admittedly, it's on a EOS 20D, but the principles are the same - the tiny little microswitches get stuck down with a bit of grit, and they think that there's a flash shoe holding them down and therefore say there's a flash installed, and won't pop up the internal flash.

Usually, you can get a pin and press the microswitch pins up and down and they'll release without dismantling anything.
