Cute pics, but not looking as sharp as I would expect from a nifty at the critical focus point, even wide open at f/1.8.

would that be my error in the focussing? had on autofocus with set point in the middle.

What was your shutter speed on these pics? It may be that it wasn't quite fast enough and the dog moved a tad between focus and shutter click.

Nice shots. The softness could be photobucket, it ruins pictures I think. Try another host maybe?
