My first go at portraits of my grandchildren,any comments,Criticism please feel free it's how we learn and improve hopefully..

Jesus, was what I exclaimed when I opened the link Nice pic(y)(y) but the eyes look a bit un natural to me. That said you have caught a great expression(y)(y). Over all, I like it just the eyes need toning down a tad imho.
 
OK, I only saw the first one when I opened the link. Quite like No 2 as well th0(y)(y) Great first efforts.

for my personal taste the 1st is a little to in your face..

the eyes look to far done
the hair over her face is off putting
and the colour of her skin looks alittle off more so around her chin..

these are imho

that said i agree with your last comment

this photography lark is hard..

if you managed to get what you wanted in the shots then you have succeeded.. (y)

but for me i would adrress these issues...

hope this is some help and not putting you off as that was not my intension

The shot of the girl is good,

The skin tones appear a little magenta/red to me not sure if it's my monitor ?

Great timing with the smile. She looks like a young Patsy Kensit

maybe slightly but I though it was just a bit of reflection off her top anyway thanks mate.

The toned down version look sfantastic fella. Great sense on fun and pin sharp.

cheers rsv.. nice bike mate as well I owned an R1 03 model up to 2 years ago got knocked off it due to an insurance cock up didn't get payed out had to sell.:crying:
Hoping to get to some bsb rounds this year to try my hand at motorsport photography cant wait.:)

i dont know if it is your screen or intentional, but i notice a blue colour cast to your little girl, siince you have the edit box ticked i had a go at correcting it for you to show what i mean

Two nice shots, but the pic of the little girl is a lovely happy shot. I like the hair across the face - I'm sure it's typical of how she is. I'm not too sure she needs the lipstick just yet but I know kids love to play. ;)

Just waaaay OTT with the colour saturation.

I tried for a more natural look.
