My first "shoot"..

Hi all. For a friend - I am going to help her get some promo shots on sat and I get to bulk up my meagre portfolio! She sent the above for inspiration:

I have 2 lights (flashes) + ebay triggers + 1 shoot through and 1 silver umbrella. d300 , 17-50 2.8, 10-20 f4, 50mm 1.8, 135 f2.8

I have gone through the images - and worked out locations and light setups and I am fairly confident I can get most of the shots with time and a little trial and error. I'm really nifty in photoshop aswell, so the post processing isn't a concern. I just really want to 'nail' the shots.

Is there anything I am missing equipment wise / lens wise to get any of the shots? I am thinking i am missing a big circular reflector to whip out.... but maybe i could just use my umbrella? or a home made foil and cardboard one..
- Any pearls of wisdom for an out and about shoot?

I think the easiest thing to do is to shoot in natural light or use one light in urban settings such as graffiti walls etc as you want it to be simple and streamlined for both you and the model. The model won't want to be standing there while you test flash power and believe me you can be there for a good 10-15 mins trying to sort out perfect lighting situations. Simplicity is best in this type of scenario so just go natural

If you are confident you can do it, a brolly will work fine as a reflector.

Only thing missing is a light meter - although you should be able to judge exposure with the histogram.

You will be shooting in M right? (flash and camera)?

Good suggestion about only taking one light. Although some of the shots really do look like 2 light setups and also saturday looks like its going to be a pretty dreary day in london so dont see much sun being available.

Yup defo shooting in manual for the majority of it all i reckon. I don't have a firm grip on histograms but will look them up over the next few days.
