my first true dslr ?

hi all , cuurently im using a fujifilm finepix 6500 whilst its a good camera i feel the fixed lens may hold me back in the future and the fact its a bride type of camera, so im looking to get a true dslr and maybe 2 lenses , what would you suggest?.

Ive considered a canon eos 300d but im unsure and even more so when it comes to lenses. Needing a general purpose sort of lens and then maybe something with a bit more zoom to it suggestions please

Your budget will probably rule what you are looking at. The 300D was / is a good starter DSLR as you can pick one up second hand for a good price now. If you are looking to start off and can afford / wish to buy new the 1000D is Canon's new entry level DSLR and gets good reviews from those that have one.

I can't help you with Nikon or Sony, but these might be worth a look :shrug:

The Sony cameras are good, the A200, A300 or A350 are all decently priced and have a lot of features for the money.
Also access to fairly cheap Minolta lenses which are compatible with the Sony Alpha Series.

i agree above, the a200 is amazing and has all the features you need with a nice lens line up but what is it your trying to photograph.
