My first website

I like the minimal look but .... when I click on the first page I'm taken to the gallery and the menu is up to the top roght with the word Gallery, nothing shows my thats the actual page I'm already on.

source code looks pretty messy.
the layout is composed of tables, which is considered bad practise and wont load correctly in all browsers.

you might also want to consider using cascading style sheets rather than inline formatting.

Would make things a lot easier further down the line

An individual page for each picture seems a bit slow, especially for someone on slower internet speeds.

Perhaps a Jquery image slider? There are many on the web which even handle transitions.

Check my website home page for an example.

Hi,

Looks nice enough! Does look different on chrome than it does on ie8 though?

Thanks for all your comments.
Treesie - no idea why nothing shows up. What browser did you use?

Steven - simply no clue what you said:) All to clever for me.

Steve - this website is all about gallery, so I thought noone will actually want to return to home page. But maybe I am wrong :)

There are very few browsers that don't handle tables and do handle CSS. The issues people had with tables were mostly related to excess markup and slower rendering in e. g. IE 6.
Just about any decent graphical browser released within the last five years handles tables fairly well (as well as and most of the CSS 2.1 specfication, except for IE mostly due to differences in box model handling), though there might be some minor differences in default rendering between browsers.

The website itself could to without the 'splash sceen' on the front page. From experience, I almost always want to get straight to the content and have navigation at hand rather than having to click on something to get where I want to get.
The design, once one gets beyond the front page, looks good to me and makes a good impression.

As mentioned before, it would be nice to have a next and previous links when viewing a photo.

I really like the layout and keeping things clean and simple. As you say focus on the images. Maybe consider having navigation on the initial homepage at the top, bottom or down the side maybe so that people can navigate directly to pages rather than via the gallery :)

That was really nice, awesome, I really like your website, your site is simple with nice images, I really appreciate your work, I hope that many people will really like this site and really appreciate your work.
