I wouldnt' worry, this often happens in F&C. It's because of all the fumes and the time we spend in the dark.

My Fuji GS645W has the film travelling horizontally. It's zone focus but I guess a bit of a rangefinder type body design.

The Bronica 645 RF shoots portrait by default.
This is probably because it's an RF, the design of which lends itself to horizontal film transport.
It wouldn't matter if it was 6x6.
