thanks,

ryan.

In my honest opinion she doesn't look relaxed to me.

You need to get her in a more natural smile if your going for that look.

Not a bad attempt for a newbie (y)

However, a few tips for you.....

  • Hold the camera in "portrait" mode (longways) and move in closer
  • Focus on the eyes, that's the first place people look when the see a portrait
  • For B&W pictures, try pushing the ISO up and not using the flash, then in the PP process, wind the contrast up to get an edgy feel.
  • And, as stated, she doesn't look that relaxed... Try shooting without the card if for while, rehearsing your direction, and then see how it goes from there
  • Look at loads of other portraits for ispiration, that's where my ideas come from...
Hope that helps.

Steve

thanks very much steve for the points.

will keep that in mind when i take some more.

ryan :)

I think she is to close to the wall move here away from it, around 1m or more light the flash travel around her also. looks like a shadow near some of her hair, the above should stop that.

good work though and keep it up :) try some stuff outdoors, trees, parks, etc
