That is impressive. What jag is it ....full size shot, or link of perfect model please :)

Its a 1989 Jaguar XJS TWR 5.3ltr V12 Sport Coupe

the TWR stands for Tom Walkinshaw Racing, and was destined for the asian market ( hong kong we think ) but never left the UK,
as such it had a higher level of trim in special colours and sports suspension and a special gearbox, it also has a full outer bodykit made by TWR
the conversions were done after the car left the factory ,
the interior is full Mulberry ( burgundy ) leather with Recaro sports seats and a 3 speed auto box
full comfort spec

it has 318 BHP as standard and does about 20mpg if I'm lucky,
i'm half way through a full body resto , my brothers will paint it white again once finished, as they are both Pro car body sprayers

every penny spent so far has been raised on ebay by selling Ford and Vauxhall parts from the breakers yard,
that includes the purchase price

i will try and find a link of a nice one,lol

good job there pal, i dabble a bit in bodywork and repairs and see an excellent job. nice car too, although a bit gutsy on fuel for my pocket :(

why thank you....

the thing is ..it wont be seen, as the rear light covers most of it, and the rest by the bumper extension , lol

MyPix

lol thats ok, at least u can rest easy knowing the bumper is secure.

The last project we did a few years ago was take a mark 2 escort and put large box arches on, involved cutting away the outer wings and back quarters, pot rivetting the new box wings on, skims of cataloy (sp), and buffing until seam was perfect, then sprayed it all lifeboat orange with blue squares in the box arch area, dropping a 16 crossflow engine in, removing the back seat and putting a 16 speaker music system in. It was great fun.

It must be very satisfying to do something like that with the right car. I dunno whether I'd have the commitment to see it through. A neighbour started a Robin Hood kit car, it's one of the easiest to build- a Westie look alike -and never got further than a rolling chassis before he lost interest. He ended up selling it as it was for peanuts to anyone who'd collect it. :(

another ' small ' project on her.....

dont know how the drivers door was staying on the car !!! , a complete new A pillar had to be installed from the windscreen down to the sill , incorperating the door rebate and the bulkhead section down onto the complete front of the sill section , and a small chanel installed to take the door seal rubber again... the top inner wing from the screen to the headlight has also been replaced in full...

all my own work...

Looks like you are a wiz with your project MyPix - how long and when you gonna be finished ?

Btb - I am a serious Jag lover myself ! Dream car is a BRG E-Type Drop Head Series 1.5 ! Limited to 'S' for now !

You have my admiration also.

I probably have the skills to do the fabrication and welding and I have done spraying in the past - it's the motivation that baffles me.

i expect at least another 18 months b4 it gets to paint, i have however fully refurbished/replaced the interior , tho the head lining has to be fitted, b4 glass but after paint, lol

i do like E-types, but not over fussed on em, i actually like the mid eighties saloon series I ,II, II XJ6's , and the XJ40's , and my next car is gona be an 'S' , much better then an 'X' , IMHO

when i say next car, i mean daily driver, i currently have a fully packed Vauxhall Signum sports with lowered suspension and recaro seats , all factory fitted

are you a member of the JEC ?

MyPix

motivation....hmm

its hard some times, and the first pix are of what i did for an hour and a half this afternoon, but i havnt touched it in nearly 8 weeks, best to leave alone if your not in the mood, otherwise things go from bad to worse sometimes

it has taken me 18 months to date, slowly buy surely

as my eldest son is disabled and i dont drink ( or smoke ) this is my vice, and photography is my hobby , both of which i do at home , mostly

Was ... lapsed a bit recently and keep meaning to refresh, you know how it is !:getmecoat

Only project I undertook was an MGB BGT - supposed to be the forerunner to the 'E' ... never made it that far ! Btb - had a lot of help from friends on the MGB too !:smilenod:

Envy you at the same time as pitying you if you know what I mean - I hope you see it through, and hope I am around to see the final pics ! :smilenod:

Do you have the whole thing to show us ?:thumb:

My Pix

Would be nice to keep this going, to see your progress.

But i must apologise, as i was looking at the shots of the work you were carrying out the wife popped her head over my shoulder, and said is that a picture of an old sink.

Made me smile.

Mike
