I am a very happy bunny :D

I was about to buy one new when grotty sent me a pm alerting me to a sale on another forum.
I'm well chuffed, saved myself at least £200 as well.
The test shots I took when I met the previous owner and a few I've just taken have really blown me away.
Thanks again grotty and if you are ever in London let me know and a few beers will be yours :)

Pleasure, enjoy. I just picked one up off fleabay for a score more than you paid, X code like new. Excellent lens.

L Lust is a dangerous thing! I could only stretch to the non-IS version but I am already looking for organs I can live without to fund a 24-70L!

I recently got this lens and its great! :) I like happy bunnies...

Yeah many Thanks to both Grotty and Darran. It's a great lens and I was sad to see it go, but I am going the prime route. This was my family walk-about lens. EXIF data shows I used it at 200mm about 85-90% of the time, and at 70 for most of the rest. Through the winter I found I wanted faster stopping action for the kids running about. Have replaced it with a very cheap but totally awesome 200mm f2.8 - can't believe it's 18 years old. Funnily enough I find myself using it at 200mm 100% of the time. I find myself moving to get in position, something I rarely bothered with when I had the zoom, and my hope is that this will make me better. I have 70 covered already with another lens, and as a treat I'm (hopefully) getting a 135mm f2, which will fill the gap. And once again Grotty has performed his matchless service of "buyer-seller alert" and I have (probably) latched onto a decent deal on one on here. I like the fact the primes are black rather than white as well. They will set me back more than I sold the 70-200 for, but those extra stops are worth it as I don't like cranking up the ISO.
Thanks again
Jonathan

OK lets start with congrats on the new lens, a real cracker. As said L lust is addictive, you know you will want the f2.8 next :)

Would love to test drive this lens. I've got the 2.8, but didn't realise how much smaller and obviously lighter the f4 is. With less noise at higher ISO now I have a 5DII I would have definately considered this lens, if I had the 5DII sooner. Rudi Winston from Canon reckons this is the sharpest ever zoom from Canon. Enjoy!!!
