Well, here it is, my latest addition to the kit bag - a used (but mint) D2x.
Only had an hour or so to play with it but I have to say, ergonomically it's a world of difference (for the better) compared to the gripped D200. Build quality is typical Nikon - bulletproof - and everything is just designed to fit within reach. Surprised it's actually smaller than the gripped D200 but that's no bad thing - in vertical on the '200 reaching some of the button is a pain, even with massive hands like mine.
Only thing I can;'t get used is the fact there's no audible 'BEEP' when the focus locks like on the D200; can't find reference to this in the manual - is it a feature or am I just being dull? It's something I've come to rely on but suppose if it's not a feature I'll just have to keep my eye on the light viewfinder icon that confirms.
For £700 it's in mint condition, plus has two nearly new batteries. Comes with another focusing screen but I think that'll wait for now. Man, I soooo love how this camera feels; can't wait to see how it works under proper shooting conditions with a range of lenses.
Got my first shoot with it tomorrow so looking forward to seeing how it compares with my trusty D200.
