The 330d is in for work (various niggles) at BMWorx in Stoke Mandeville. So I've got this beast as a loan car:

L plate 520i, 24v 2 litre six, 150bhp (I think)

203k miles.

I havent driven anything this big before. Its not bad to drive. Weird though, as I havent driven a petrol engined car for around 2 years! The steering wheel is very olde style - it has a very skinny rim. The rest of the interior is pretty dated, but feels solid.

Anyone on here run (or has run) one of these?

I had a very nice 535 Sport (1 down from the M5 IIRC) about 10years ago, I also put in £2k worth of ICE and had 17" Racing Dynamics alloys fitted. It was so nice to drive, a little too nice actually, and it wasn't until I submitted my accounts that I realised I'd spent £6k on fuel just driving nowhere in particular, I'd hate to think how much it would cost with today's petrol prices :puke:

Always thought old BMWs are hideous, tbh. They remind me of Volvos.

:boxer:

Boy when you throw an insult you really throw an insult.

my dad had one until recently, i was going to inherit it but the rear axle destroyed itself :(

very comfy to drive, but a bit like a barge :p

You go to the wrong dealer ;) When I've taken the missus's 1 series in for any work I've had the following cars for half a day each

- Z4 3.0 SE ...............now that was fun
- BMW X5 3.0D Sport .............would love one, but missus thinks they are too big
- BMW X3 3.0D Sport ............. how fast for a 4x4 ;)

Expect it's because I bought the missus's car there.

Ah.....only used main dealer for warranty work. Like you, for 1st service was off like a shot to specialist. BMW dealer wanted £150 for oil & filter change !!!!. Did well to get any car then from specialist !
