just brought me a 2 axis hotshoe spirit level, seems to be a cool little gadget for keeping things nice and level, anybody got one or uses one and how do they find them, worth the money or not?????

If you look on the well known auction site you can pick them up for around 3 quid... ;)

I had one ... did not use it... lost it...have not missed it.

I do use the one built into my pano bracket when setting up the tripod legs.

Imagine you`re doing a wedding or summat and you have to set up the level for each shoot , I just , and i`m no expert by any means , enjoy my self . I dont feel the need to be so clinical about it ?. The next thing will be an emergency helium balloon that will take tha weight of the camera off you`re shoulders?. Where willl it all end ?. They`re just gimmicks to me . unless one`s a surveyer perhaps ?. Take care . Ron

Wouldn't you normally ask that question before you buy?

It's perfectly sensible question, he is only asking peoples personal opinion of them and whether they thought they were worth the money,

There are many photographers swear by these things so I bought one years ago but have rarely used it. With the camera mounted on a tripod, I suppose they can be a great help.
Taking your time with composition by looking at the subject through the viewfinder or live view does the same thing.
I'm not suggesting for one minute that my horizons are always spot on but they're never far out.

I think that if you are taking shots of landscapes etc. knowing when you get to the image on the computer, no matter how weird it might look, that the camera was level at the time is useful (think hills going left to right).
At a wedding, horse racing, birds, then you just rotate the image until you get a pleasing result. For landscapes etc. you might want to record reality slightly closer.
