Since getting the 1D MkII and now the 1D MkIII I have been kicking myself for selling my 12-24mm Sigma as the widest lens I had available to fit my 1D bodies was my 24-70L which at the wide end gave me an approx FF AOV of about 30mm.
I happenned to be looking on the net for examples of ultra wide angle lenses to fit the 1D series and to be honest it is not very well supported. There are the 12-24 Siggy
and the Canon 14L (silly money) and then we are up to the Canon 16-35L or 17-40 which is taking us to a FF AOV equiv of 20-21 degrees. So it was looking like I was going to have to find another sharp Siggy 12-24, when I saw an article on adapting an EF-s 10-22 to fit on a 1D series body.
In order to prevent vignetting you are limited to only using it between 12mm and 22mm (which is similar to the Siggy's 12-24mm) other than that it is fine.
So being a bit daft and taking my lens in my hands I went for it, and here is the first picture from it.
Canon 1D MkIII, Canon EF-s 10-22 @ 12mm f5.6 1/40 sec (exif intact).
