My new Sigma

Hi there. I am a complete noob to photography and have recently bought a new Sigma 300mm lens (F4-5.6 DG OS specifically). I know this might sound stupid to some, but I wanted to ask whether the components inside the lens move/ tremble/ hit the sides for other people too? I am not sure whether this is normal due to the optical stabilisation function or if it is a manufacturing/ shipping fault. The reason I ask is because my Sony lens feels completely solid with nothing moving about inside. It would be great if somebody could clear this up for me. Thank you very much!
 
Its very possible that it is just the OS doing its thing. Have you tried turing the OS off and seeing if it still happens?

I had a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 OS that did the same thing, which apparently was quite normal.

There is significantly less movement inside the lens when my camera is switched on. When it's off, things still move about whether the OS switch is on or off.

ok, yeah id say thats normal then. OS works by compensating for upwards, downwards and sideways movement by haveing a kind of floating lens. It will be that lens you can hear moving around, and explains why you would hear it more when the camera power is off.
