Edit My Images
No
Hi all I have been busy setting up a website for a few days now (I know the images are not perfect) but if any of you could wander over and take a butchers and sign my guest book I would be eternally gratefull and if you have any pointers I am all ears to suggestions
www.wilkinsons-photography.com

Thanks:thumbs:

It's not bad...the one thing I would like to point out, is the image on the left is a little distracting and not needed I feel!

Thanks I will remove it but that will leave a black space there so do you suggest a filler for it

Black space :) Having a site centered is generally seen to be a bit neater! Try and leave a border to the left and right sides as it'll help people viewing the site on different screen resolutions

Its a template and I dont think I can alter the actual layout the max width is the width of the header but they have other templates I can play with

Not sure I'd have "Gallery 1" plus the topic. why not just call each gallery by its topic. ie "Transport 1" etc....

Thanks Hepburn all replies will be looked at and adjusted on the site next w/end

Just a couple of tiny niggles. On your "About" page, the first paragraph doesn't read very well. On the p+p page there is a missing "e" on befor... and I couldn't find a guestbook, only the contact us/enquiry form and I assume you didn't mean that.

Otherwise you have some very nice shots there.

thanks Kiasmum will put the e in and the guestbook is at the bottom of page 1 :)

Much better :) It just looks more clean cut and professional now!! Look forward to seeing any more updates!

:clap:Thanks for the comments and as you can see they were taken on board and the site does no look a lot cleaner

THANKYOU ALL

I have just had a look and it's clear that the text is in need of some word processing. There are spelling mistakes and grammatical errors that the use of Word would have addressed. I know it's old fashioned to care about the use of the English Language. Maybe some of your potential customers care as much as I do. There are no images on the Events page, at the moment. The page transition is fast, the structure is fine and the images are all right. Just a few tweaks needed to complete a professional site.

some more detail required, perhaps clients you have worked for in the past, or something else that you see as your usp

Thanks rh and flash will make adjustments and yant I dont have any other way as its a template that can only be modified a little

Can you make the thumbnail a uniform size? and a bit smaller? At the current size it's a bit in no man's land.

p.s. the Black background and green letters doesn't really work.

I don't think it's old fashioned at all. Rightly or wrongly, i will swiftly move along if I encounter poorly written sites. My stance is if they can't be bothered to write good english then what's the chance that transcends to their services too?

btw, these are general comments and not aimed at the site in question.

Also, is there no way to do the thumbnails on seperate pages so that you don't have to scroll down to see?

Upload and use preview thumbnails instead of displaying resized images. Have them all resized to the same proportions, or have 100px by 100px square crops as previews (or your preferred sizes!).

A nice gallery would be a really good idea as mentioned above.

Feel free to swing me a message if you want some help with hand-coded html/css to brighten it up a little.

ooops, forget to say that you can drop the text in the box under the Contact Us form, as the text above the form replaces the text in box. The text mentions the Shipping and Policies page which, at the moment, you don't have, so two options: 1) remove the text about it altogether or 2) add the Shipping and Policies page soon.

Didn't like really like the fact I had to scroll down 'all the time'... Would be nice to have at least three images side by side... not just one and one and one...

The site is very clean and clear to read... layout of the galleries on the 'home page' is good.
(as English isn't my first language.. I can say nothing about spelling/grammar.)

Agree with the thumbnails being uniformed in size...

Keep at it !!

Hello,

Mr Picky here.... first thing that strikes me is that I need to use the scroll wheel to see the bottom of each page - on a 1280x1024 screen that shouldn't be necessary. Perhaps you could reduce the size of your banner at the top of each page; crop the water off a bit of just scale the whole image down a bit?

:agree: with the gallery comments - having all the pics in a single column is not very user friendly.

On the Contact Us page you need to sort out the styles - the box for the form contrasts way too much with the black background, as does the background for the text below it - if you are insisting on White on Black (yeuck but that is my preference) then at least make everything White-on-Black.

The other thing to think about, on the contact us page, is how you emphasise/sell your link to professional wedding photography. At the moment it is lost in/masked by the glare just mentioned.

Oh, and having a valid mailto: link on any web page is an open invitation to spammers.

Otherwise, nice site, shows promise, could be better but not as awful as it could be ;) 7/10

Hi Ben thanks for taking a look and the comments you made are valid (I am learning still) so I have managed to put the photos into two columns for now and as for the contrast I am working on that one

Updated a little bit if you fancy another wander ... let me have it good or bad lol

HI Again,

The colour is much better :D, now all you have to do is get the FastHosts Web Button and the visitor counter under your main body rather than in a column by itself.

I would remove the enquiries@ from your contact page as well... unless you plan on spending your life deleting spam from your inbox :)

Looking good...

I have managed to sort out the gallery as a link from the page so less scrolling is needed it is still work in progress but you are welcome to have a peek and thanks to all who helped me get this far

If I'm being honest I think the banner isn't very pro looking, and I feel that the background colour doesn't really work with the colours in the banner.

Also there is way too many clicks before you actually get to see a gallery. So cut out the middle page and just have it going straight to a gallery, or if you have to have a middle page then have your four latest images on there or something.

Hi Yantorsen do you have any ideas for the banner and the idea of putting 4 images on the first page is a good one so thats my next edit thanks

I think the text on the banner needs to contrast or stand out more from the banners background, and I feel that the colour of the water kind of clashes with the background of the site.

I would go for something simple, possibly a similar idea though.
